Ten Teams from among the best american Universities and laboratories are uniting forces to fight LCA caused by CEP290. This is happening mostly thanks to the generosity of Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck - whose teenage son, Campbell, has LCA - who has donated a huge sum specifically for this purpose. This multidisciplinary team is embarking on a road of exploration which, hopefully, will lead to cures in humans in the near future. This is overwhelming news for those of us whose lives have been affected by CEP290 mutations, and adds to the equally thrilling news of the considerable funds obtained by Canadian researchers who are pursuing the same goal.
Here is the list of researchers involved in Project 290. Links are provided for each researcher, to learn more about each lab’s research area and role in the project.
